Auto Map to produce International Character
Sets
Any TrueType font in the internal format may be converted to
one of the four standard international characters sets (Latin 1 to Latin 4) and
also PC8. This module takes a selected font for the bottom half and creates a
new top half using the selected font plus accents. Some special characters such
as ’ may not be correctly represented, but may be edited later.

Import Adobe Type 1 fonts
FontMaker Lite is able to import TrueType Fonts and Full also includes Adobe
Type 1 fonts to the internal format. Approximations are made if necessary and
any hinting will be lost as the internal format does not support hinting. This
feature is not intended for use with fonts that have copyright restrictions.

PreView TrueType (.TTF) Fonts
This modules allows a TrueType font to be previewed at various sizes without
having to install it using the 'Control Panel'. A Print Screen facility is
included.

Editing of TrueType (.TTF) fonts
Minor surgery is possible on a TTF font retaining any hinting. Facilities
include remappnig, building composite characters, inserting new characters,
editing kerning, and editing of characters both normal and Composite.
This
module now includes DERVAL Mini-Hinting for better
results at smaller sizes.

Export of TrueType and Adobe Type 1 fonts
Font Maker FULL can Export the internal TrueType format to either
TrueType or Adobe Type 1 fonts. If Derval Mini-Hinting has been included at the design stage, then
this will be output to tha new fonts in both formats.
When Exporting
to Adobe Type 1, fonts are generated as a PFB font file. In addition two
support files PFM and AFM are generated with the same name.
